Long ago and far away at least as time is measured
I had a dream, a hope, a wish that God knew how I treasured.
To marry a girl whose eyes were blue with a laugh that lit my soul,
To share with her my life, my love – to make my half life whole.
Well as He does the Lord did work to bring her full around,
To take me as her husband dear, to share this love we’d found.
So here we are some twenty two years beyond that wedding day,
And I know that to spend my days there is no other way
Than with my Laur, my bestest friend, the one who lights my life.
So, with this poem I thank the Lord for making her my wife.
